Women’s soccer starts second season with six newcomers

Naomi Rushe comes to UIC from Ontario.

Six new players join the women’s soccer team when the Flames begin their second season of competition in August.

Bekah Allen, a junior transfer student from Eckerd College, played 14 games as a freshman and 15 her sophomore season. She was named to the SSC Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll twice during her two years at Eckerd. A member of the Iowa State U16 and U17 Girls Championships teams with club team CRSA Premier, she was team captain her junior and senior years at Pleasant Valley High School.

Allen was named to the Mississippi Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference in 2012 and 2013 and the First Team All-Metro in 2013. She was a member of the All-Tournament Team at State in 2013 with Pleasant Valley.

Mackenzie Hoffer, a freshman in business, was a four-year starter in soccer and played basketball at Visitation Academy in St. Louis. She guided her high school team to three conference championships and a 2014 Class 2 state title during her junior season. She was named team captain in 2015 and piloted her squad to a national ranking.

Hoffer played club soccer for St. Louis Scott Gallagher, where she helped the team take first in the 2014 NSCAA showcase and led the squad to consecutive titles in the Schaumburg Soccer-Fest College Showcase.

Alexis Jakuszewski, a freshman who plans to study pharmacy, was named to the All-DuPage Valley Conference Team and was Wheaton Warrenville South Rookie of the Year. She was All-Conference, All-Sectional and All-State as a junior and selected for the Central DuPage All-Area First Team and the Daily Herald All-Area Team. She earned the 2014 Offensive Player of the Year and Varsity MVP at Wheaton Warrenville South.

Rebeca Pallo, a freshman in earth and environmental sciences, participated in soccer and cross country at Wauwatosa East High School in Wisconsin. She was captain of the varsity soccer team in 2013 and 2014 and named to the All-Conference second team as a sophomore. She was co-captain of the Lake Country United Club Team, where she won three state championships.

 

Rebeca Pallo (#7)

Rebeca Pallo is from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

Naomi Rushe, a freshman in criminology, law and justice, played soccer, volleyball, flag football and cross country at St. Paul Secondary School in Ontario, Canada.

She was the OYSL East Division Champion and Coupe Quebec Qualifier with Dixie Athletics club team in 2014 and selected for the Provincial Team. She was a finalist for the Ontario Cup in 2008.

Jennifer Saviski, a freshman in nutrition, competed in the IHSA 3A state championship as a sophomore at the varsity level with Hinsdale Central High School. She was a member of the Windy City Pride club team in 2014 that won the US Club Midwest Regional Championship and took second at US Club Nationals.
