Biography

Juliana Stratton

Juliana Stratton is an attorney with over 20 years of experience working on matters related to constructive conflict in the workplace, communities and public safety. She has served as a mediator, arbitrator, administrative law judge, and a graduate-level negotiation skills instructor.

Stratton, who is also a trained peace circle keeper, is active in community engagement efforts focused on restorative justice and reform of the justice system.

Since 2015, she has headed UIC’s Center for Public Safety and Justice, which provides training, technical assistance and research in support of community policing and problem-solving techniques.

Previously, she led an independent nonprofit that promotes transparency and accountability by the Cook County Juvenile Court, and was a senior policy advisor on matters relating to criminal and juvenile justice reform to the Cook County Board President.

In 2016, Stratton was elected to represent the 5th district in the Illinois House of Representatives.
